This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are newcomers who cannot speak English. Many of them have not been in a formal classroom setting until now and have been in this country for less than six months. They are in the process of adjusting to their new living environments, learning English and are just learning to read. These students want to succeed. They are so good about helping one another as they are all in the same difficult situation. They need the tools to optimize their learning and be successful. I am currently working with the bare minimum to help these students and need your help. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

My Project

I am teaching in an inner-city school that is faced with many daily struggles socially as well as academically. The children I work with are not only having to adjust to living in a new country and missing their homes, but they also are trying to learn English in order to access the curriculum effectively. Some have never even been in a formal classroom setting. I am eager to help them learn to communicate, read and write before they shut down and turn to negative behaviors due to their frustration levels mounting.

By donating to my project, you will be helping underprivileged students learn English, learn to read and be giving them the opportunity to become life long learners regardless of the odds being against them.

They have the motivation, they have the passion and just need the supplies needed to get the job done! "If everyone lit just one little candle what a bright world this would be."

Thank you for your consideration. Your generosity is very much appreciated. This is a severe need and my students would be forever grateful! Until they learn to communicate and to read they are unable to access the grade level curriculum and are falling even further behind.
