Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an extraordinary group of middle school students in the Bronx. I believe that my students, and all students, have so much potential and I want to use that to enhance their future both inside and out of education. My students are very diverse, both in their variety of cultures, their needs and their learning styles which makes my job the best in the world.

My students constantly keep me on my toes and their curious minds teach me something new every day.

Most of my students are living in poverty, have insecure housing, or are either immigrants or first-generation Americans. Most of my students have experienced trauma in their lives and all of my students are exceptional individuals who show up each and every day, ready to learn.

My Project

WOWIE! I have been in my school building every day since September 8th anxiously awaiting my students to arrive. The day keeps getting pushed back and the disorganization, confusion and technical difficulties continue to build. One day (fingers crossed for October 1st) my students will walk into this building for a school year they will NEVER forget. Therefore, I want to start the year off with a little "gift box" of supplies for each student. This will give them ownership over their supplies and a place to keep their school items safe for their hands only! My goal is to create a pencil box (that I will personalize per child) for each student enrolled in blended learning. This box will stay in the classroom so they always have supplies they need on hand-- pens, pencils, stress ball, mini hand sanitizer and a hand written note from the teacher team.
