Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The addition of a 50mm prime lens will greatly enhance our middle school photography program by expanding the types of photography students can explore. Unlike our current telephoto lens, the 50mm lens provides sharp images, stunning depth-of-field effects, and the ability to work in low-light conditions. Its fixed focal length encourages students to actively engage with composition, perspective, and framing, helping them develop essential technical skills. This lens also aligns with STEM learning by teaching concepts in optics, light, and exposure while fostering creativity and precision.

Our program emphasizes entrepreneurship and real-world application.

With this lens, students can create professional-quality work suitable for portfolios, event coverage, or product photography. These projects will teach them valuable business skills, such as marketing, pricing, and client interaction. In the past, students have used their services to give back to the community or to assist in fundraising for our students. Moving forward, students can photograph school events, providing affordable photo packages to families or collaborate with local businesses to create promotional materials. These activities not only build confidence but also give students practical experience in using technology to solve real-world problems.

This lens will transform the learning experience for our students, who are eager to combine creativity with STEM-based problem-solving. By learning advanced photography and Photoshop techniques, students will gain skills applicable to careers in the arts, design, and technology. Additionally, they will use these skills to serve their school and community, giving back through event photography, charity projects, and exhibitions. This program empowers students to see themselves as innovators and leaders, making a lasting impact on their education and future aspirations.
