My Students

My 3rd graders are a unique and diverse group of students in a Title I school. Many receive free and reduced-price lunch. They are energetic and enthusiastic about learning. They are inquisitive and always searching for new ideas. Every day brings new joy and excitement as we collaborate and grow with each other.

Books have the ability to ignite students' confidence, grit, and resilience.

As their teacher, it is my goal to open students' eyes to the diversity around their community. I want my students to leave my classroom with a love for literacy and diversity. I truly want to create an opportunity for my students to be compassionate and empathetic individuals.

My Project

Books have so much power! The books I have chosen will allow students to learn alongside the characters. Each book provides a lesson about positivity, kindness, perseverance, mindfulness, acceptance, and friendship. Many of these books will also provide students with role models who have already accomplished so much in our world today.

My goal with this project is to open students' eyes to diversity while creating a classroom community with understanding, compassion, and acceptance for all.

I look forward to sharing these amazing books with my students! I know each of these 26 books will leave a lasting impression on each of my 3rd graders.
