Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember that favorite book you read at school? What if you never read that book? My goal is to provide my students with the opportunity to read many great books. I want to introduce my students to amazing novels and guide them in finding the joy of reading.

My students attend an inner-city school and come from low-income families.

They do not have access to diverse reading materials or school materials. Our school does an amazing job sharing materials, yet materials are still scarce. It would be incredible for my students to have a class set of both novels.

My Project

These books would help build a love for reading in my students. My students will be comparing and contrasting both novels, analyzing the characters, and discussing the themes of the novels. Both books have great encouraging life messages that will be a positive influence in my students' lives. For example, Where the Red Fern Grows will teach my students to work hard for your dreams and never give up.

Books open up a whole new world to the reader.

They show the reader new places, ideas and people. By funding this project, you will be enriching my students' lives and providing the opportunity to experience a different world without leaving the classroom!
