This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Student's at our school love to learn! They enjoy reading, but sometimes struggle to read on grade level. They are into sports and technology. We are a one to one school, so children are able to learn electronically. They enjoy researching and exploring apps.
Our school has a wonderful school-wide community.
We are like a family and everyone watches out for each other. It is not uncommon to see an older student helping a kindergartener tie their shoe in the hallway.
My Project
I need the most current professional books on reading and writing. Jennifer Serravallo's The Reading Strategies Book and The Writing Strategies Book have over 300 strategies to help meet the needs of students. This would help me tremendously when working with our students!
It is so important that as teachers we keep up with current practices to meet the needs of our ever-changing students.
With today's technology, it is critical that we keep our students engaged and adjust our teaching styles to meet their needs. The books I've requested will help me learn more about the newest strategies and styles to keep my learners engaged.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
