My Project

As a new teacher, there are many great tools to use in the classroom, however, these tools require technology. One of the most critical tools in the classroom is a laptop computer. My current laptop computer is unable to keep up with the demands of the job. Often there have been nights I sit and wait for my laptop computer to reboot or refresh and I think of how much more I could do if my laptop computer just turned on, and I could get started on my lesson plans. I am the junior high social studies teacher, I also teach the social and emotional curriculum for the 8th grade students, and I work with student government, each of which relies and depends heavily on me having a solid and dependable laptop computer.

In a world that relies on the ability to connect to the internet from any place, the inability to have a solid, and dependable laptop computer is a challenge.

A challenge that if fully funded through DonorsChoose would be alleviated and solved.

Still navigating the uncertainties of COVID-19 and other side effects it is vital that I have solid, and dependable laptop computer. I love the school that I work at, one downside is that the school does not use laptop computers, but desktop computers. When at home working or when another teacher is using my room, I must use my personal laptop computer. While we are able to hold in person classes, there may still be resurgences of COVID which require our school to move to online learning for a temporary period. One less obstacle to overcome if this were the case, would be to have a solid and dependable laptop computer to use so that learning can continue without hiccup despite not being physically together.
