Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being at our school for several years, I have gotten the chance to really get to know many of the students in the school, including those I have never taught. Many of them have gone through seriously adverse situations and misfortunes that impact their everyday life, especially their education. I am amazed at how resilient they can be, and how they push through to the best of their abilities regardless of hardships that affect them. Being a fifth-grade teacher has shown me how fast some students have to mature. I have taught their younger siblings in previous years (coming up from kindergarten and first grade) and see how they take care of their family. Each child that I have gotten to know at this school has my heart.

I want nothing but the best for all of these students, and that includes giving them hands-on experiences that will be memorable to them.

My students need to be able to feel like school isn't another one of their draining duties or work. I want all of them to enjoy school and look forward to each day in my class, whether in person or virtually. They truly deserve the best!

My Project

Every year I come back to my classroom after a nice, long, and relaxing summer, only to find that I have either misplaced or didn't pack away my teacher essentials. Pens, markers, white-out, and organizational tools are small things that make a big difference in how successful a lesson can be.

I want to always start the new year off prepared to teach and give my students the best teacher they deserve.

Students benefit from a well-prepared teacher too! They won’t miss out on any instructional time while I try to find the right tools needed to get things moving along. I’m most excited about the grouping sticks that will be of great use in my class to group students. We love groups in our class!

Teachers need new supplies, just like students do, so I am going to make sure I am fully stocked and ready to go come September!
