My Students

Our school is filled with incredible students who love to come to school everyday! They are such happy individuals with so much empathy and curiosity! The staff at our school learns as much from the students as the students do from us about life and the world.

My students bring many different cultures from around the world into our classroom everyday, creating a rich and deep learning environment.

It is an amazing environment to teach about diversity because it is so evident. I am truly indebted to my students for all they teach me about life and their culture.

My Project

This year, as part of our CSIP goal of “Gap Closing Practices”, we will focus on writing PLC’s, schoolwide writing, and celebrations, fostering student identity as writers and more!

One layer of this goal is to assemble a vertical writing team of K-5 teachers.

The focus of this team is dive into the vertical continuum of narrative, expository and opinion writing from kindergarten to fifth grade and learn more about how CCSS and Being a Writer intersect. We will also be collaborating with other departments at our school to compile a ‘toolkit of supports’ during our time together. These resources will be a vital part of this toolkit.

With limited access to student writing during remote learning, this team will lean into looking at student writing and also be ready to support their PLCs to respond to students' writing next steps with ideas and aligned resources.
