Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have so much energy for learning and really do come to school each day wanting to learn and know more. As a science teacher, I often find myself feeling like I am falling short of my best teacher self because I do not have all of the resources or the space (or time!) to do everything that I think high school students should experience in science.

Some of my students are not able to afford school supplies and all of the students in my district receive free breakfast and lunch on school days.

My students do not all have ideal living situations and look forward to going to school. It is important to me that I make my classroom a place focused on learning! While I cannot change most things in my students' lives, I can work hard to provide a learning environment that sets them up for success. I strive to provide structure and show my students that I am prepared for them each day!

My Project

With the help of materials such as pencils and pens, my students will be able to focus on the material that we are learning instead of the supplies that they need. Clipboards are helpful for students who would like to stand during a lesson.

Having a file organizer with file folders will help me organize papers that we use each day in class.

If students are absent or lose a paper, they can access the file folders on their own. Our district does not provide tissues which means students have to use paper towels or toilet paper from the bathroom.
