Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am privileged to be the reading teacher for a class of 48 1st and 2nd grade students. They come to school every day eager to explore and learn about the world around them. Every child comes from a different background with varied interests and ability levels. I am dedicated to investing in all resources necessary for helping close the learning gaps created by the COVID pandemic.

With summer coming up, I would like to create learning activity packets to help parents continue working with their children at home.

The school I serve in Texas supports a population that is largely economically disadvantaged, and the children have limited access to materials at home. By receiving this gift card, I have access to more materials I can work with to create an engaging and effective packet.

I am especially interested in using the card to buy additional materials that support students in practicing their high frequency words and phonics skills. These are foundational areas that often suffer from "summer slump". Your support will help my students return to school in the fall in the best shape possible!
