This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Student's at our school love to learn! They enjoy reading, but sometimes struggle to read on grade level. They are into sports and technology. We are a one to one school, so children are able to learn electronically. They enjoy researching and exploring apps.
Our school has a wonderful school-wide community.
We are like a family and everyone watches out for each other. It is not uncommon to see an older student helping a kindergartener tie their shoe in the hallway.
My Project
I need new professional texts to read over the summer to revamp my practice. Literacy Coaching: Transforming Teaching and Learning with Digital Tools and Technology by Stephanie Affinito will hopefully inspire me with new ideas to support other teachers. Since we are a MEDIA magnet school, I am hoping this book will give me new ways to incorporate technology into our English Language Arts instruction.
I need a wireless pointer to use during professional development sessions so that I can engage with teachers.
This will allow me to move around the room and interact with teachers as opposed to standing at the front near the projector.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
