Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our daily schedule begins with our morning business. The kids work together to update our classroom calendar and discuss any upcoming events. This morning meeting sets the tone for the rest of the day. We discuss the schedule for the day as well as what we will be learning across all subject areas.

My classroom is comprised of students with mild to severe disabilities including Autism, Developmental Delays, Intellectual Disabilities, and Other Health Impairment.

Our enrollment is higher this year with 13 students. About two months into this school year and things are running smoothly. Students are adapting to the new setting, classroom rules, and routines. These students are very sweet and motivated to learn and make progress. Our school campus is taking steps toward incorporating technology into our students learning. They offer students a number of resources including a computer lab, various educational software and a class set of ipads shared by all classrooms.

My Project

I am requesting printer ink for use in the classroom. As a special education teacher, I am required to update parents on progress toward Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals during each of the three reporting periods throughout the year. As a result I am required to print out multiple goal pages per student so that parents can have hard copies of their child's progress toward IEP goals. The ink I am requesting would help with printing these progress pages. I also create modified assignments, graphic organizers, and various other educational materials for my students using the classroom printer and ink.

My project would make a difference to my students and their parents.

I would be able to print IEP goal progress pages from my classroom which would keep the parents updated on their child's progress toward IEP academic goals. I would also create accommodated and modified projects, assignments, and graphic organizers to support my special needs students in accessing the general education curriculum and print them out in the classroom. Printing on the spot is crucial to our success.
