My Project

Watching Kindergarteners go from learning letter sounds to blending them into words and then reading sentences is magical! They all develop at their own pace though and I've yet to be given a reading program for my class that provides enough phonics based stories for students who need extra practice.

Children who were previously struggling, gain a confidence boost when they successfully read these "Bob Books"!

These books support reading growth within our systematic, explicit phonics instruction, helping them establish the habit of sounding out unknown words, which is especially important for Kindergarten.

Having these extra sets would allow me to use them not only in my classroom, but also for students to borrow and bring home. Teaching in a half day Kindergarten class, there never seems to be enough time, so being able to reread these fun stories at home with parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. reinforces their learning and aids in their reading development!
