Help me give my students access to crucial information regarding the history of our great nation. It would be amazing for every student to have a copy of Indigenous People's History of the United States!

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are part of the largest comprehensive high school in the city of Philadelphia. With over 3,500 students in our building daily, resources are limited. More than half of our student population live at or below poverty level.
My students are funny, smart, insightful, persistent, creative, curious, and most of all deserving of materials that will ensure their ability to achieve academic and personal success.
Many do not have the opportunity to venture far from our neighborhood and as a result, ask amazing questions. My students work hard with very little. They are an amazing group of kids and it is my honor and privilege to play a small role in this integral part of their lives.
My Project
As a high school English teacher, I am constantly on the quest to find engaging reading materials for my students. Due to the lack of funding and very limited resources at our inner-city school, this is not possible without donors like you! It would be an amazing opportunity for my students to have physical copies of the book "An Indigenous People's History of the United States" by Roxanne Dunbar.
I hope to use this text to not only enhance student interest in the topic, but to fuel students with priceless knowledge they will need in order to be compassionate, empathetic, and successful adults.
My students are required to participate in high-stakes assessments as 10th graders, which can prove to be rather stressful and in some ways, boring. In having access to this captivating text, students will be better able to take ownership of and real interest in their own academic success. In addition to analyzing this text, I plan to pull in paired selections in the form of indigenous poetry, dance, song, and compare it's content to United States primary source documents. Students will complete the unit by completing a multidisciplilnary project.
