Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students are an amazing group! They really love to learn! Every day is a whole new world full of wonder, imagination, and learning new things. It's an amazing thing to be a part of. My students are in a Title I school living in a low socio-economic neighborhood. Their families work hard to provide them with everything they need. Our classroom is made up of many English Language Learners and we are also an Integrated Co-Teaching Classroom meaning half of our students also have an IEP. We are working on building up our knowledge of letters, sounds, and words. All of my students are building their confidence in reading, writing, and sharing their own personal stories. They are ready to jump into new experiences and build their knowledge. My students also love helping one another and love to be teachers. This easel will help us not only teach them new vocabulary, letters, sounds, and stories but it will also allow them the opportunity to come up and be the teacher and show off what they have learned. This easel will allow us to share big books, shared poems, songs popcorn words etc... my students will be able to come up and share their ideas, discover new information, and add on or ask questions of their classmates. With this easel, I will be able to develop lessons that are engaging and relevant to my students. Over time, they will be able to pass the pen to one another and take charge of their own independent learning. This easel will give them the opportunity to take charge of their own learning which will create a lasting impression and love for learning that they will carry throughout their school career.
