My Project

As a Title 1 school, we are an upper elementary and middle school, many of our students are going through puberty. In our school we do not have school store that students are able to get essentials for their personal needs. We will be setting up a student council made up of female leaders that will create a sense of community and compassion towards their peers. They will run a school store that will have sanitary items such as pads, leggings, sanitary wipes, and underwear. Unfortunately, the girls are stressed about the embarrassment with their unpredictable menstrual cycles. The girls say that they want to have clothing items, and snacks at disposal for them that will help their anxiety such as leggings and they want to be provided with mental health resources. The student council will work to create a safe community where female students are able to confide in each other. This also helps promote awareness in their self care. We will hosting a community get together for all of our female students with our social worker and health coach to educate them on how to properly care for themselves through puberty.

These sanitary materials are going to help our female school community so much by giving them the essentials they need to stay healthy during puberty.
