My Project

I have a "radical" notion that if the kids enjoy school, they are more likely to consistently apply themselves for optimal learning. The hands on project is to develop and execute a small business plan by which the kids will design teeshirts and coffee mugs that they will then sell; the proceeds going to fund their class celebration. The psychology class will focus on the concept of "marketing" and the government class will focus on "property rights" and "market economics". We need to purchase a teeshirt printing machine for the main project and other supplies that support SEL needs such as ink stamps used for grading that encourage personal growth and chair mounted fidget tools that can meet the needs of neurodivergent learners.

Covid has impacted my students in a many ways, but two areas I want to directly address is the need to bring back collaboration between students in the classroom and simply bringing back joy and excitement.

Covid atrophied so many aspects of the high school community experience that I believe some students quite literally do not know that collaboration and working with one another is one of, if not the most important skill to develop in school. I hope that introducing more hands on learning experiences to the classroom can bring back the joy of learning to my students!
