Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I appreciate the most about my students, is that they have exhibited an eagerness to learn. During lessons and whole group, the students are engaged and excited to make connections with what we are learning.

During individual work time, the students are happy to assist and help each other out with directions, and reminders for expectations.

They seem to enjoy being in the classroom and have created a strong sense of school family amongst each other. I love it when they are so excited about somethings they've learned that they will make connections to it throughout the week in conversation.

My Project

We have time set into our daily schedule for tablet time where students can get on the online resources to enrich their learning. Many of my students do not have technology to use this time to engage in these online apps. While I have one tablet to offer students to use, that is not enough for each student to participate in apps such as Imagine Literacy and Imagine Math. We do not have class sets of iPads and some students are not getting the lessons they could otherwise have access to. Imagine literary is an ability based app that gives students opportunities to practice reading and phonics skills. Imagine Math is also ability based that gives students additional math practice. Each app adapts to student mastery so the student is always getting higher thinking practice.
