My Students

My typical day includes dance instruction for pre-k to fifth grade. I work in a Title 1 elementary school in Manhattan. The students and I work together to produce three performances a year. All students get the opportunity to perform.

I am a New York City public school teacher of dance education.

I have recently moved to a Title One school in Manhattan. It is a wonderful school that is working to ensure the children receive a high quality education. This is the first year that our school is offering a full time dance program for the children. At present, we are operating without many of the necessary supplies. I am looking to build a performance-driven dance program and need numerous materials. With this DonorsChoose project I am asking to fulfill the needs to the third grade curriculum which requires tap shoes. My Project

The students will be participating in weekly tap dance classes and rehearsals for performance in school assemblies and concerts. They will acquire skills and techniques which culminate in several school performance projects. With the acquisition of the tap shoes, my students will gain the opportunity for experiential learning of dance techniques and skills.

This student body has never been exposed to the art of dance.

My goal is to foster an appreciation of dance as a performance art that is accessible to all children. With the acquisition of the tap shoes, my students will gain the opportunity for experiential learning of dance techniques and skills.
