This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students for their boundless energy, creativity, and eagerness to learn. They arrive each day with a passion for movement and a deep desire to express themselves through dance. It’s inspiring to see their commitment to improving, their curiosity about new techniques, and their willingness to challenge themselves. As a dance teacher, it’s my job to help them reach their full potential, and I believe that introducing them to tap dance is a perfect way to help them grow.

Tap dancing is an art form that sharpens musicality, coordination, and creativity.

But to fully engage in this form of dance, my students need the proper shoes. The specific items I’m requesting—tap shoes—will allow them to explore tap dance in a meaningful way. These shoes will give them the ability to produce sound with their movements, experiment with different techniques, and find their own unique rhythm. Without tap shoes, they are unable to fully experience the art of tap. With them, they’ll be able to dive into this exciting dance form and develop new skills that will serve them in many areas of life.

My goal for this project is to ensure that all of my students have access to tap dance, regardless of financial barriers. I want them to build confidence, develop a strong sense of timing and musicality, and discover the joy of making music with their feet.

What makes my students special is their diversity and their sense of community. They come from various backgrounds and cultures, bringing unique perspectives to the classroom. They support one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and work together to grow as dancers and individuals.
