My Students

Kindergarteners are busy, busy, busy! That is a great thing, and a not so great thing. School have fluorescent lighting. Schools, classrooms and other work environments where people spend time learning and working under simulated sunlight (full spectrum lighting and color) experience less stress and anxiety, improved behavior and attitudes, improved health and attendance, and increased performance and academic achievement.

Research in the use of light in schools has shown that cool-white fluorescent bulbs, (which are used in virtually all classrooms) cause: bodily stress, anxiety, hyper-activity, attention problems and other distress leading to poor learning performance.

To alleviate this problem many of us are using fluorescent light filters. Staff report a marked difference in behavior!

My Project

Little people and big people alike are affected by their environment. When you are in the same space for over 6 hours a day, it's important to have the optimum conditions.

To promote tranquility, and a lower stress environment, many staff are beginning to use fluorescent light filters.

Light filters reduce glare and and flickering that occurs with that type of lighting. Staff report that their classrooms are immediately affected in a positive way. Other tools such as Theraputty, fidget toys and MIndfullness practices are beneficial in maintaining a classroom that is happy and productive.

As teachers, it is important to be aware of tools that help you every day and filters are one such tool.
