This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My music students range in age from Pre-K to Upper EIementary.

I teach music to children who are on the autism spectrum in New York.

I have the pleasure of working with all of the students in the early childhood department of our school during music class. My students are enthusiastic learners and love participating in all kinds of musical learning activities. They enjoy dancing, singing, reading song books, and playing musical instruments. They really look forward to coming to music class!

My Project

Some of my students have motor challenges which can make it difficult to hold a drum while playing it. In music class, we often use the hand drums to work on ensemble rhythm activities, such as playing a steady beat, reading music notation, and general music making.

These Tubano drums are wonderful because they sit on the floor, allowing my students to have the freedom to use both hands while playing along.

I want all of my students to experience success with ease while playing the drums with their peers. These Tubano drums will help us in achieving this goal.
