Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With your help, we would like to acquire a class set of the classic 'Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing' for our school library.

92% of the students at our school come from households with below-average income.

The kids tend to be first-generation Americans whose parents have recently arrived in the U.S. from the Caribbean or from Central or South America. We do not have an affluent PTA that could help us purchase resources for our media center.

My Project

Around 3rd or 4th grade, students transition from reading easy picture books to reading short, fun chapter books. This is a big step! To help the kids along, teachers read chapter books with the entire class. (I'm sure you remember doing that yourselves!)

Our fourth grade teacher team has a great idea for a fun chapter book to read with their students: 'Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing' by Judy Blume, a classic story that the kids will love - written, incidentally, by an alumna of our school.

Would you mind helping the library acquire a set?

The books come from Follett School Solutions - a library book supplier that will barcode each title, so that they are ready to be circulated through the library computer.
