My Project

I teach Autism in grades 9-12. My students enjoy working on projects. Last year we began to work on project-based learning and everyone was engaged and had fun. This year they are learning the importance of being part of the community.

For my project, students are expected to understand how the choices we make and the resources we use have impacts on Earth.

The essential question that will lead us is: How can we take care of our environment and inspire others to help us?

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”- Benjamin Franklin.

They have chosen to expand our recycling program by teaching others the importance of taking care of our environment. Recycling will not only benefit our environment; it will give our students a sense of ownership of our building.

Making it public for the community. They will design reusable canvas tote bags and shirts for their program (REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE). The tote bags will be for parents and community members to use when they go grocery shopping or at any other time that a one time plastic bag would be used. They will make posters to place around the school to implement greener practices in the classroom, school and community.

We are asking for funds to purchase two wagons to collect recyclable materials from classrooms in the school and take them to the school recycle bins. Additionally, we're requesting canvas tote bags, and other items.
