My Students

"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in our classrooms, including the teachers! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.

Our fourth grade team is filled each day with eighty-eight students exhibiting a full range of reading and math abilities.

Our classrooms are full of activity as we fill every minute working toward academic excellence and trying to have fun at the same time. Our school is a small STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.

My Project

Our students need sports equipment to get in shape and take a brain break from learning. Our community was in the direct path of Hurricane Irma, and although there was little structural damage to our school, many families went over a week without power, lost much of the contents of their refrigerators, and lost over a week of school. Upon returning to school, instructional time in the classroom has become more intense to make up the missed days, which makes the need for outdoor exercise opportunities even more important.

Having limited available sports equipment makes it difficult to get everyone involved in activities.

Our fourth grade classes compete, as teams, in various sports (kickball, baseball, soccer) several days a week. This competition builds character, teamwork, and sportsmanship while allowing the students to get exercise and have fun. In order to compete in these activities, our students need kick balls, dodgeballs, jump ropes, soccer balls, footballs, zoom balls, and paddle balls. These various types of sports equipment will allow the students to participate in a variety of sports, instead of being limited to a few sports, as we are now.

All of our students will benefit from having new sports equipment to increase their daily cardio, get in shape, and take a break from learning. Giving the students these brain breaks will certainly lead to academic growth and greater teamwork.
