My Project

My neighborhood school is located next to a park that includes a baseball field. Now that a little league team practices at this field, I want to expose all of my students to baseball so that as they develop an interest in the sport and gain confidence in their skills, they may choose to join the team.

Unified sports builds social connections between students with special needs and their peers and this safely designed gear will be a great resource for our team in addition to being helpful for PE class.

As our district brings unified sports back at the elementary level, our athletes need appropriate equipment to help them develop skills in the various sports featured at our community field day event. I am excited that this program is returning to Middletown because it provides opportunities especially for students who are often overlooked when it comes to after school programs.

This baseball gear will provide all of my students exposure to a relatively inexpensive sport that is accessible in the neighborhood. Having PE class outside provides so many physical, mental and social health benefits. Students will be able to make those connections in our upcoming unit focusing on mental health.
