Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is an upside down world where the Principal is willing to offer a small amount of budget to the music program but we cannot find the equipment we need. This is where the 7th and 8th grade music students and I are at the moment. We have full support from our Principal, full engagement from the students and a teacher who really wants to help them get to the next level (that's me).

The luckiest educator is the one standing beside a student who wants to do more.

In the music room have have a number of students who want to take their practice to the next level...guitar shredding? Bass Solos? Complicated piano improvisations? What about a cute electric ukulele call and response? As I was thinking about how to give my students the best opportunity to take advantage of the resources available to them to work independently, I realized the best thing ever would be to have a few ipads available as independent study partners/instrument trainers that they could pop headphones on and work without taking from the learning of the others. Oftentimes, a student comes to music to take a period to work independently, take time to express in solitude and take a break from the social navigation that occurs all day in a middle school classroom. I have found them inexpensively online as opposed to the options available to me through the school. It is crazy to spend more money that necessary, so I figure I could take advantage of the matching through donors choose. Thank you so very much in advance.
