My students need leveled books such as Diary of a Spider, Oma's Quilt, Alligators and Crocodiles, Amelia's Bully Survival Guide and Ducky so they can borrow books to read at home.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? I would like my students to have this experience. Many of my students struggle learning how to read and do not have appropriate books at home to read.
My students are third graders who attend school in New York.
Many of my students do not get the opportunity to visit the library. Many do not have books at home to read. Others have books but the books are not matched to their reading level. Often the books are too difficult and the students get frustrated and give up reading.
My Project
I would like a leveled library so my students can borrow books to take home and read. This leveled library would help to foster reading at home. Many students do not have books to read outside of school. The leveled library would allow my students to choose a just right book. This book would be on a level that the student could read independently. Since the book is matched to the student's level, it will foster a positive reading experience. It will help to promote a joy of reading. In addition to reading the book, each student will keep a reading journal and write a response about the book.
Learning to read is a skill that all children need.
