My Project

Movement has been proven to help students learn and attend in class. Sitting at a desk all day in one position does not. Having the opportunity to change from sit to stand throughout the day would allow students the opportunity to take movement breaks during class instruction.

As an occupational therapist who works a lot in the classroom, my students, teachers, and I are constantly trying to find ways to allow students to feel comfortable and alert in their workspace while promoting good posture and positioning.

Having a desk that allows for easy adjustment for sitting and standing will allow students of all sizes to find the comfortable position for them.

This in turn, will allow students to attend and focus on the teacher and class instructions for effectively.

My hope for this desk is to be able to use it in one of the self-contained classes at my school which contains many of my students who need the opportunities to move or change their sitting position throughout the day.
