Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th-grade students are from East Harlem in New York City. They come from diverse backgrounds and learning levels. Some are English language learners and others have Individual Education Plans. Many of the students also qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

What I love about my students is their passion for learning, excitement to explore and their ability to have a positive outlook as they grow and learn socially and academically.

These students amaze and inspire me daily. They deserve equality and opportunity to continue to grow and achieve their dreams.

My Project

These materials will help immensely towards making our classroom more flexible to meet the students' various needs. Students with learning, social and emotional issues benefit from having a choice in seating options and in differentiated instruction. Right now, they have to sit on a thin, old rug on hard tiles.

By having these seating options, students can work in small groups comfortably and use the portable seats to put their laptops on and work from anywhere in the school and not just on their desks.

These seating options will provide our classroom with a greater capability towards moving into a flexible classroom and create an environment that will help to service all students' needs.
