I'm blessed to work at a special education center school for students in grades K-12. Our amazing program is located in Michigan. We serve students with a wide variety of psychiatric, cognitive, and behavioral needs. We serve students from our entire city.
Our school has thirty-seven beautiful young people with varying strengths and weaknesses.
Their backgrounds are as diverse as their abilities.
We are all unique, but we are definitely a family here.
Encouraging positive behavior is so important to us at our school! Due to the special needs of our students, a PBIS point-based behavioral system where students can earn points for good behavior and schoolwork is ideal for them to prepare for the real world. Students can then trade these points in at our student-run PBIS school store for desirable items.
Our PBIS school store also enables students to overcome economic barriers to work for and procure high-ticket items like earphones, basketballs, and even tablets and school spirit wear that they otherwise could not afford and would not otherwise have access to.
This project is to help us stock our PBIS school store with some frequently requested items such as Gift cards to Taco Bell and Subway. This store gives all students an opportunity to have items they desire, and this specific project will encourage our young people to practice financial literacy not only by utilizing the school store but also by using the gift cards. The students love a variety of items, and this is one that they have selected. We appreciate your support as we encourage our kids to be safe, responsible, and respectful, as well as develop their Financial Literacy skills. Thank you for your support!
