My Students

"Every day is a new day" is my motto. With my students, this is important because every day is a different challenge or battle. My students all have been classified as having a learning disability. Some of my students have been classified as being learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, speech and language impaired, and/or Autistic. They all learn through different means and modes. In addition, many of their families are low-income and/or lack education due to poverty or immigration status. Despite their hardships, my students are eager to learn. They crave to be successful in and out of the classroom. I want to be able to continue to create meaningful learning experiences.

All my students deserve a chance to be successful.

In a rigorous academic school community, it is easy to forget about the learning disabled population. They are often forgotten because of their inabilities. I believe that my students can be successful; I desire to make creative and positive experiences to help them learn and become everyday citizens!

My Project

As a special education teacher, my students are delayed academically, socially and physically. My role as their teacher is to reach them on their level to help them make progress.

Therefore, it is important that as they transition back into the classroom from remote learning that I provide tools and necessary accommodations to help with the transitions.

I have requested in this project specially designed mask that will help with durability as well as protecting students and teachers from spreading germs. The specially made student masks are not made of paper, the extender strap keep masks in place on their face, the strap holder will help as well as face/neck mask that will help with students who don't like to wear the masks. Teachers will be able to model and provide instruction through the clear mask. The headphones are needed when using the technology which will have to be practiced in class in preparation for our remote days.
