My Students

As a teacher in a Title I school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Some students have economic situations which hinder their learning. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

My students absolutely love using the computer in our classroom during independent reading or free time. However, with 23 students, the time each child can spend on the computers is limited. We use them for improving our reading skills, math games and more recently, non-fiction research for our writing unit.

With having tablets as well as the computers, I will be able to have more students utilize technology to increase their learning beyond my own lessons taught.

They will be able to easily access information needed for our writing unit, or practice their fluency reading. The students will be able to practice their math skills while playing fun games online as well.

Let’s not forget the covers for this tablets as, after all, kids will be kids and I want them to last for years to come!
