Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My upcoming kindergarten students are learners of the 21st century. With the world at their fingertips, my new students will be able to learn more than what comes from a textbook by using tablets.The options of hands-on virtual learning on tablets in the classroom is limitless. My students represent great diversity in terms of their abilities, goals, and interests.

I will be able to use the tablets in a multitude of ways that will impact each student, such as, differentiating and incorporating virtual libraries that lead to read aloud books, websites for reading books like Epic, drag and drop Google slide activities for fine motor skills while learning hands on, websites like I-ready and IXL allow for individual assessing leading to individualized questioning and practice, each at their own level.

Websites like these allow me to observe each student working in real time. As they are practicing the skills, I can see who is mastering and who is having difficulty. This will allow me further insight on how to plan my upcoming lessons, small group instruction and one- on- one conferencing.

Incorporating technology also allows for students to show their learning (and personalities!) through apps like Flipgrid (my favorite). Flipgrid allows students to create their own video responses to questions.

The amount of learning through the internet is abundant.

By donating these tablets, not only are you helping me deliver the curriculum, but you are giving my students the opportunity to learn more than what is written in the “one size fits all textbook.”
