This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students I serve live difficult lives but they come each day with an eagerness to learn. While they do their best to not let their difficult life circumstances get in the way of their education, unfortunately when the entire student population is under the poverty level, this can be an incredibly difficult task.
Walking into my classroom you wouldn't know how difficult it is for many of these students to even make it to school, let alone being ready to learn.
What you will see are bright eyes, big smiles and hearts of gold. My life's passion is to encourage that inner growth and ensure they have the tools and skills to succeed academically.
My Project
As everyone knows, technology is not only a nice thing to have but it is also a necessity in the modern world with which we live. Working in an inner city school that services four housing projects, our budget is limited, as is our technology. By having tablets in the classroom, I will be able to integrate technology into my lessons and not just by showing the students items on the projector or document camera.
Having five iPad tablets in the classroom will enable me to incorporate a technology station into my math, reading and science rotations and help to bring the information to life and do so in an engaging way.
These kids deserve every opportunity to succeed and this is just one small way that together, we can make it happen.
