This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach energetic and inquisitive kindergartners at a Title I school on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. This is the first school experience for many of our students.We all learn best by providing fun and engaging activities when they are reading books, writing stories, solving math problems, learning their letters and sounds.

Our class needs essential and important resources and materials that will assist them in reaching their academic goals and have them experience educational growth.

Almost 10% of our students are English language learners and 35% are students with disabilities. Half of the class attends an after-school program that operates till 5:30 PM daily while their parents work.

My Project

These tablets will get my students excited and motivated to read in the classroom. Students will be provided with concrete experiences to read with books. With the help of the tablets in the classroom, students will be provided with a reading program catered to their specific learning needs.

The teacher will be able to group the students and meet with them according to their reading growth, which is recorded on the tablet.

The students will be able to play games, read stories and receive helpful strategies to increase their independence when reading books. Please help my students get excited about reading!
