This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Mechanical Mustang FIRST Robotics Team just competed last weekend, and we had an exceptional tournament. Ranked 3rd with only two losses, we were finalists and won the Excellence in Engineering Award. We have been working on a scouting app with our alumni, and we are finally ready to take the next step and move to tablets to collect the data.

The FIRST Robotics Competition is a high school competition where students build a 5 ft, 115 lb robot that competes on a basketball court-sized field.

Our students learn how to design, fabricate, and program our robot. We are in matches 3 on 3 and we need to collect all of the scouting data so we know what the other robots can and cannot do. We then strategize how to work together with our alliance to score more points than they do.

We are in need of six Android-based tablets with protective cases for our scouters . . . three for the red alliance and three for the blue alliance. The students will watch each individual robot and enter their details. We then compile the information so we are able to know which robots to choose to be on our elimination tournament alliance.

Scouting generates a lot of data, and the students learn data analysis and presentation skills while being part of this subset of our team.
