Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hey y'all!

My name is Ms. Woodin and I teach art to 200 amazing 7th and 8th grade students each year in Aldine ISD.

Many of my students do not have access to a computer at home for distance learning this fall, in fact, The Houston Chronicle stated, "Three of the region’s largest and most impoverished districts — Alief, Aldine and Houston ISDs — face the greatest shortages, according to Census data and estimates from district leaders". As a mother, I can't help but feel sorry for the many parents and guardians of my students who will have to live with the guilt of not being able to afford the devices their children will need to participate in school this fall. Your donation will help me purchase 100 SIM card tablets students can use all school year and then return to my school, giving 100 new students in need home access to devices each year.

My Project

The SIM Card Tablets will allow students to participate in online learning at home with the ability to take SIM cards out of Android phones and insert them into their tablets. This will enable students to use the data from the SIM cards to access the internet on the larger tablets so they will be able to complete school work. My students need devices at home not only to discover the vast world of art while creating their own digital artwork, but for the resources they need to be succesful in all of their school subjects as well. Your donation will give 100 of my students this year access to a device at home and as well as giving another 100 students these tablets in each school year following as the devices will be "checked out" from children in need at my school.
