This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“Dream, design, and deliver!”

Each student makes up an essential, unique thread within the fabric of our school community.

These creative, innovative, and enthusiastic students are the future of fashion and design. On a daily basis, these dedicated students work endlessly to bring their concepts to life in the form of clothing and accessories. Imagine the sense of accomplishment when a student revels in his or her work: a finished pair of pants, a shirt, a coat, and so on. As an educator, it is just as thrilling to bear witness to this process.

Akin to the garment district, our school is situated in Manhattan where even the skyscrapers do not reach the heights of our students’ ingenuity and talent. Our goal is to support and prepare these remarkable students for success in higher education and to follow in the footsteps of alumni, who have gone onto schools such as the Fashion Institute of Technology, The New School, Pratt Institute, Savannah College of Art, and Design, etc.

My Project

As technology continues to rapidly evolve, our clothing is becoming much smarter with new and innovative characteristics. High performance fibers and the likes of Google's Project Jacquard will allow our clothing to become extensions of our smart devices. Fabrics can now detect heartbeats and regulate temperatures. Our clothing is being designed and engineered in ways that were once considered unimaginable.

Tablets will enable my students to take charge of their learning and to truly comprehend the relationship between STEM education and clothing technology, fiber sciences, apparel mathematics, etc.

With these tablets, my students will have access to important programs and other technologies typical of the apparel industry that will allow them to generate cutting-edge designs. Please help support my students to explore, discover and innovate.
