My Students

I teach an amazing group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with a range of disabilities from autism, specific learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, ADHD, hearing impairment, and emotional disturbance. These students have a wide range of backgrounds socially and economically. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area and we strive for parent involvement.

I want my students to have the same learning opportunities as their typical peers.

They want to learn, understand, and be a part of activities, like their non-disabled peers. My students require a multitude of learning strategies and materials in order to reach their true potential. This involves many different ways of teaching and tools for engagement. We’ve all fallen more beyond during the Covid-19 shut down and a year of school online. I want to help get my students caught up as much as possible!

My students love to learn through technology and enjoy moving around the classroom while they learn and work with me or a small group. They are so curious and it is very rewarding as a teacher when their light bulb goes off or something clicks and they start striving academically and socially.

My Project

My students get very excited to use technology to help them learn! A new tablet and stylus will get them engaged and keep them wanting to learn more! We use programs that help hit numerous RL.3 standards. (RL.3.1 through RL.3.10). A tablet helps students choose where to work and give them the ability to move around the classroom like they enjoy doing. We will also be able to do projects that include taking pictures and videos. The stylus will help them with their fine motor skills. The protective case will help keep the tablet safe if it is dropped!
