My Students

We are a high poverty school in the midst of apartments and single-family homes. Third of the students are from low-income homes and they receive free or reduced-price lunches. I have a diverse group of students from many ethnic background.

LEGO building is their favorite activity that triggers creativity, imagination and excitement that can last hours.

It is a learning tools that my students love to dig their hands into. LEGO Coding Express requires tablet that can access the app to design and create the train track.

My Project

Our school is very close to train track and children have always been fascinated by the trains. The Coding Express is a train set that will introduce a basic language of the digital age. There are four different themed activities that enhances the train set by logging into the app on the tablet which will explore examine the journeys, characters, estimate, measure distance, and composing simple melodies for the program.

With the access to a tablet, LEGO set includes gears and forces that will predict how far a car will go through the program.

It can be set to move the train to the castle instead of the beach. Students will program their train set by changing directions, turn the lights on and off, sound the horn. and stop to fuel.

Coding Express will enrich our students with problem solving, critical thinking skills, expand their creativity, and explore real-life STEAM education. It also includes an app that is designed to sequence, loop, design the track and explore different animals and instrument sounds.
