My Students

"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow" John Dewey. Technology plays a vital role in educating today's students. Please help my students excel in their learning with a tablet.

My students are energetic, eager and motivated to learn, especially when it involves technology.

Our school is located in an urban area in Southern California. We are a Title 1 (Socio-Economically Disadvantaged) school, and all of our students participate in the free lunch program. Most of these students do not have access to technology that many other 4th graders do, and this will affect their future. More economically fortunate children their age, have computers and other technology at their fingertips. My students deserve the same opportunity.

My Project

My students are vibrant enthusiastic learners, wanting to gain knowledge. Having the tablet will give them access to technology which will be an essential tool helping them become successful in their future. Most of my students are English Language learners. There are many educational applications they will have access to through the tablet. One of my students is extremely motivated to learn English. Since none of the other students nor myself speak Vietnamese, she currently uses an old, slow Mac G3 from 1998 to translate vocabulary and directions from Vietnamese to English. A tablet would be so beneficial to help her and all of my students.

The students will improve in their language development and all of their academics by working both independently and collaboratively using hands-on technology.
