Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students are English language learners and work best when they are collaborating in small groups. Learning from one another helps my students to develop skills that they will need as they continue their education and eventually enter the workforce. They come to school every day seeking a warm and positive environment, eager to learn new things in spite of the challenges they may encounter outside of my classroom. Every year I am inspired by my students to provide them with the best possible education and help them to achieve their best.

My Project

It is essential to my students' academic and social growth that they have tables where they can collaborate with one another. Research shows that students learn better when they work together.

Right now my students are using individual desks that are worn out and marked-up to complete their independent work.

Students often shove papers inside their desks and then struggle to find them later in the day. With the addition of these tables, students will be forced to learn organizational skills by placing their belongings in certain areas in the classroom.

Finally, the desks that are currently in our classroom are bulky and take up a large amount of space. With the addition of these tables, students will be able to move around the room more comfortably.

My hope is that these tables serve as symbol of collaboration, organization, and comfort. These tables will be the foundation upon which students can learn the skills they will need to be successful later in life, as they fulfill their dreams.
