Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students surprise me everyday. They are creative, inventive, and excited to learn, discover and make new things in art. They love to paint, draw, build with clay, and discover new mediums to create with. I teach elementary art to about 300 second- through fifth-grade students from diverse cultures, special needs and varying economic backgrounds.

This school year due to the pandemic, students are stressed because of the new social distancing rules and other challenges, therefore this is a time when students need art more than ever.

It is my goal this year, to provide all my art students with a nurturing, healthy art studio environment in which to create and express themselves in their art safely.

My Project

These three new tables will complete the art studio feel of the room and help inspire and de-stress my students. Currently, my art room has 6 of these beautiful tables which were funded by donors choose last school year. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic's social distancing restrictions this year, we still need to use old tables of different sizes and desks that clutter and ruin the look and feel of the art room. So far this year, I can only sit 2 students per table that under normal circumstances would fit 4 students. I am hoping to eliminate the old tables and desks with these three new tables. These new tables will open up the art room and create a wonderful space for them to learn and create.
