I teach at a rural Title I school. Almost 100% of students receive free or reduced lunches. My student population includes foster situations, parent or parents who are incarcerated, grandparents raising grandchildren, emotional needs, and those who learn differently.
DonorsChoose.org has been a great way for my students to see the entire country is invested in their education.
Every student deserves to feel valued no matter their zip code. I have students whose basic needs are met and those whose are not. Our school's meals are for those who need them. Counseling, clothing, school supplies, and extra-curricular opportunities are available to try to reach all our families.
My Project
Help my students to have a relaxing, comfortable, and safe learning environment. My students need tables to be able to spread out and actively learn. Students will work collaboratively in groups and engage in learning objectives.
Currently, we have small desks that do not allow for much workspace.
Tables will allow the students to have ample space to let their creativity flow. Tables are much easier to keep clean and to keep up after a project. Tables will create more space and allow for other comfy furniture. 30 desks in a small classroom does not leave any room for moving around to learn.
Let's make this dream a reality from my much deserving students and break the chains of poverty.
