My Students

My classroom is part of a Head Start program in a Head Start through 8th-grade school in Miami. I serve up to 17 children, with inadequate technology resources to reach the students' full potential.

In funding this printer and ink project, these children will have access to printouts of their daily activities and make much more progress in their learning growth.

Each student has great potential for learning, and this project will enhance their ability to excel. My students are low-income children who are eager to learn every day.

My Project

This week, we came back to school to plan for the opening of school next Monday. Our school is a STEAM school, which makes it imperative that all classes have the technology and resources required, including pre-K.

Currently, my classroom has no student workstations for my students to use, which puts my students at a disadvantage technology-wise.

Because the disciplines are all intertwined, applied sciences will have to be taught in every area, starting with pre-K.

Although I am very excited to be part of the solution, the weight of pre-K being the foundation or stepping stone seems heavy as my classroom lacks most of the early learning science resources, manipulatives, and technology to make STEAM in our pre-K curriculum a success.

Because our class size numbers have increased and are most likely going to keep increasing as we are a STEAM school, I need all of the technology I can get for my classroom.

I was able to find tablets that are affordable and durable for my pre-K students, and they seem to have the specs needed for the simple computer tasks my students will be doing. Your donation will help me furnish my classroom with two tablets that come with keyboards for my pre-Ks to work with.
