My Students

You know you've got a fun classroom when you and your students sing part of the Mickey Mouse March as your attention getting signal! My classroom focuses on instilling a love for learning as well as an understanding of the magic of imagination.

My 25 little Mouseketeers love my Disney themed classroom and often refer to it as Disneyland.

I teach a group of fun loving, creative, and caring students who exhibit perseverance on a daily basis. Our school has an open-space concept, meaning that while we do have separate classrooms, they are all joined by a hallway at the back and we have no classroom doors (it's a hard one to explain!). Learning in open-space allows the students to develop a stronger sense of community because other students, teachers, and the principal are always within reach. My class loves to share things from home with each other, donate odds and ends to our class store, share their ideas about their learning, and just be together. Their hearts and minds amaze me daily.

My Project

We've been lucky enough to have an amazing bundle of STEM activities funded through Donors Choose, but now we need an organized way to record our thinking! These STEM notebooks will walk my students through the steps of the design process for each experiment and challenge they work on. These notebooks will also promote higher level thinking because there are prompts and questions to get my students started. At the end of the year, my students will be able to look through all of the different STEM activities they attempted (and accomplished!) throughout the school year and see how their thinking matured as they gained more experience.

These STEM notebooks will help improve my classroom and my students' lives because they will promote organized thinking and note taking skills; two skills that are extremely important for students to master early on in their educations.
