My Students

My students are interested in applying their learning to their future careers. They come from all over the world with a vast array of interests and talents, joined together in a melting pot of caring people that love them. They want to shape their world with our mentoring and coaching to help themselves, school, and society. We partner every day to change the paradigm of traditional education; to build relationships that last by meeting them where they are and taking them on a journey of where they want to go.

They learn in all different ways, and discover that learning is a lifetime joy.

My Project

These materials will allow the students to apply mathematical and STEM concepts to model higher level math concepts and apply them to solve real world problems by using their creativity to create pendulums out of yardsticks and magnets and to print different regression models on the printer. These students have gaps in their foundation math skills, and have been passed on through the system to high school where their math self esteem is often low. Doing rubric based learning will allow them to show mastery and proficiency in high level math concepts without subjecting them to severe test and retesting anxiety. The students will work in leveled subgroups to create the pendulums according to the "Pendulum Swing" STEM lab. East student will be assigned a team role such as facilitator, resource, task monitor, and recorder reporter to create a linear regression model of a bridge using the weight of the magnets as the x-independent variable, and the # of oscillations as the dependent y variable. After the timing and counting, they will create tables and use the STAT functions on the calculator to create the equation model and then they will graph the table using the equation model and then use it to answer questions about the model and make predictions.
