Our students are hard working rural students that come from predominately lower economic households. The school district is making an effort to increase these students exposure to more education and opportunities for growth and success. This growth and success carries over from all things that they do such as sports, band, ag, and academic competitions. This is difficult to do sometimes due to financial constraints, but the school and communities do as much as they can to provide the encouragement the students need to become productive members of society.
My Project
In baseball, as in all sports, success is more easily achieved when the athlete can transfer skills learned in real-world application. We have the ability to teach the skills needed to play but we have a hard time applying them. This is the main skill we are missing.
The portable batting cage will allow us to see these drills and situations in a "live" environment without the added danger of athletes being struck by a baseball.
Also, it will help reduce the amount of baseballs that can be lost and save the school money and the baseball team time and money.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
